Weekend Recap

We had a busy and fun weekend here.
Mike spent the weekend with some friends at the Ford car show and races here in town. While he was out with the guys, the girls and I got some good Grandlady time in.
On Saturday we went to lunch at the Crusty Croissant. It was delicious.

Jillian slept through the meal.
After lunch we checked out at Whole Foods store and a toy store. Both of these were places I had been wanting to go to but not with two kiddos by myself. It was fun to have mom to help. On the way home mom and I got Sonic drinks and drove around some housing developments to let the girls sleep. My sister called during this time and we told her we were finding a house for her. A girl can dream right :)

When we got home Grandlady and Hadley decided to rest. There was a lot of playing and only a little resting. Then it was time for Hadley and I to play in the pool. Since it was 104 degrees out we let Jillian and Grandlady stay inside. Then mommy got too boring for Hadley and Grandlady and I had to switch places.
After coming in having a bath and eating dinner, Hadley decided to be "super hadley."
Today was another busy day. Grandlady cooked taco salad for lunch.

Hadley colored.
They even found time to sing and dance.

Grandlady watched Jillian while Hadley and I went to a birthday party. When we got home it was time for Grandlady to leave. This was the look on Hadley's face after Grandlady left.

She did cheer up after we headed to church this evening for a hymn sing and ice cream social. That wraps up our busy weekend. We don't have anything planned for the beginning of the week except relaxing and catching up on house work.

Our day!

Today was a great day at our house. It was time after a few days of all day "terrible two" tantrums. We went grocery shopping this morning. When we were there I wore Jillian in my sling. The first thing Hadley wanted to do when we got home was wear her baby whose name is Jilli-Ruth.

After lunch Grandlady got here to spend a few days with us. Hadley got right to work keeping Grandlady busy. She even decorated her with stickers.

My mom also brought an album of pictures of me when I was a baby.

Here is one of me and my sister. We are 22 months apart. It is funny to see how we look compared to Jillian and Hadley.

Here are a few more pictures to compare.

2 month check up

Before I give you the details of Jillian's 2 month check-up let me tell you a funny story.

Yesterday morning Jillian and I got up about 6am. She was full of smiles and cooing away. I wasn't upset about being up early because she was in a great mood and we had to be at the pediatrician at 9am. So I go about getting ready and getting her ready. Things are going great. I have to go wake Hadley up at 7:30 so she can have breakfast and get ready. On a side note it is rare for Hadley to still be asleep past 7 let alone 7:30. Anyways... we get ready and I take this adorable picture of the girls before we leave.

At this point we are running ahead of schedule and I am feeling good. We get to the doctor's office and I go to check us in. I tell the receptionist our name twice and then she says," I am sorry, Jillian's appointment isn't until tomorrow." I probably have a very shocked look on my face at this point. She then tries to see if they can fit us in because I have an infant and a toddler. No such luck, no big deal. I smile and say we will see them tomorrow.
Now if you know me you know that I pride myself on being very organized. I went home and checked and it is written on Tuesday on both calendars. Who knows what happened. It must have been the fact that I scheduled the appointment during the sleep deprivation of having a 2 week old and a 2 year old.
Hadley went on to tell Mike that mommy was very silly when he asked about the doctor. Nothing gets past her.
So this morning we did it all over again. Things weren't as smooth running as yesterday but we made it on time. As we pulled into the parking garage Hadley said, "Doc Doc again mommy." Such a funny girl.

The appointment went great. A few tears with shots but nothing too bad. Jillian is right on track developmentally and looking good. She weighed in at 11 pounds and 9.5 ounces. This is the 65 percentile. We were very excited because we are used to the 5th percentile. She is 22 1/4 inches long.

Right now she is sleeping and has been for most of the day. I guess those shots wore her out.

Here are a few more pics of the girls.

Our weekend

We had a great weekend of staying home. We left the house twice all weekend. Once on a Target run and once for church. It was a relaxing weekend after a very busy week. On Saturday and Sunday Mike and Hadley swam in the backyard. I think they had a blast together. I don't know who is the bigger kid Hadley or Mike :)

Here they are hanging in the pool.
Mike loving all the pictures I was taking.
Watch our world, here comes Hadley.
Hadley loved sliding into the water.
We spent most of this morning doing stuff around the house. Hadley spent most of the morning playing mommy to her babies. Here she is watching tv with them.

We have had some horrible tantrums in the last week. So when I am having a really bad day I am going to remember to look at this picture and smile.

And of course I can't have a post without a picture of my chunk of love.

2 months

Jillian is 2 months old today. To celebrate she spent most of the day sleeping :) Here are some things she is doing these days:
  • Smiling when talked to
  • cooing
  • turning towards the sounds she hears
  • sleeping a 7-8 hour stretch at night
  • watching Hadley

It is so much fun to watch her grow and change. We go to the doctor on Tuesday for her check-up. I am anxious to she what she weighs. I am guessing in the 12-14 pound range.

In this last picture she was watching Hadley dance around the room.

Royal court

We spent part of the morning playing dress-up. Hadley was in charge of the outfits. She said she was a princess, I was a queen and Jillian was a princess too.

Imaginations

On Wednesday, Hadley started singing Row Row Row Your Boat. Then she used a basket some of her toys go in and two wooden spoons as her boat and oars. Next thing I know she is using her kimono as a life jacket. (She is very imaginative these days.)
On Thrusday, I was taking diapers out of a big box and gave it to her to play with. The box then became her boat and I spent the rest of the day pushing her around the house. That night she asked daddy to put a rope on it so mommy didn't get so tired. After that Mike's imagination started to go into over drive.
Here is a picture of Hadley in her "life jacket" and the boat before daddy and Hadley changed it.

On Friday night I had my book club meeting. Mike and Hadley had a daddy/daughter date night Boy did daddy have big plans. When I left they were just getting started on their "project".
Here they are getting set up.
Hadley telling daddy what to do.
Mike continued to take pictures as the night went on.
Here is Hadley making a fashion statement and painting.
Then it was time for coloring with markers.
And her is Captain Hadley in her finished project. Doesn't she have the best dad ever!
Captain Hadley and her first mate Jillian.
Just a cute picture of the new of them I thought I would throw in. The outfit Jillian is wearing is a 6 month outfit. She is going to out grow Hadley soon.

Playdate

Today we had a playdate with Jennifer and Sarah. The girls got to play in the pool and have a great time.
We started getting together for playdates when Hadley was a newborn. Sarah is 16 months older than Hadley. In the beginning it was just a time for Jennifer and me to talk. Then the girls began to play next to each other. Now they love to play together. It has been so much fun to watch how they have changed over the past 2 years and I can't wait to watch them change as the years come.
Thanks Jennifer and Sarah for a fun morning.

(Jillian was there too, but slept through the whole thing.)
