Barbie...

Hadley is the proud owner of her very first Barbie.

Mike was wondering if I even knew what a Barbie was since I played with GI Joes growing up. I left all the girly stuff to my sister.
Anyways... I took the girls with me to a consignment sale and Hadley latched on to the pink Barbie car. I let her get it thinking she would have a Dora doll that could drive it. I was wrong. She had some money that she was going to spend on vacation but we never went shopping so I asked her if she wanted to buy a doll for her car. That was a yes. So we headed to Target. She had to keep her money in her pocket. I think she was afraid that I would spend it. We headed to the toy aisle and she found a Barbie in a bikini. I made her pick out a dress for the Barbie. We didn't need to much skin showing. However I am sure that Barbie will ended up naked and with cut hair at some point in time.
Barbie now has the honor of sitting in her car next to the boat at all times.

Barbie just sits in her car most of the time so I am not sure if she is a hit or not yet. We will give it time. I am still holding out hope for a love of GI Joes and football helmets.

FUN!

A couple of days ago I pulled out my magnetic letters and board for Hadley to play with. I had no idea that is would lead to hours of putting letters in lines and asking what each letter is. She is starting to name lots of letters and we are having a good time. I knew all that money I spent on things for my classroom would pay off :)

Family Vacation

We have been home from our little vacation for one week and I am just now posting.
We went to Kansas City to the Great Wolf Lodge. We should have known it was going to be a bad idea when the night before we left nobody got much sleep. Mike, Jillian and Hadley all came down with colds the night before we left.

Our plan was to go to church, eat lunch and hit the road. After not sleeping and two girls with runny noses we skipped church. We took our time getting around and headed out around 2pm. The drive there was good. We stopped a few times and both girls slept off and on. After we checked in we were able to meet up with one of my friends and her kiddos.

Here is a pic of the kiddos at Famous Dave's BBQ.
Laken, Hadley, Taylen and Bosten.

After that we called it a night. We tried to get some sleep but a 4-month old and a cold equal sleeping with mom, which equals not much sleep for mom.
We got up, ate breakfast and headed to the water park. The pictures from the water park all turned out very dark. Here is the best one I could find.

This is what Jillian did at the water park.

Hadley seemed to be feeling better and played until lunch. We ate at the restaurant in the hotel for lunch. The booths are in tents. It was decorated nicely.
Here we are in our tent.
Check out mommy's tired eyes.

After a nap we went back to the water park for a little bit and then had dinner. We called it an early night.
Getting ready for bed.

The next morning we got up and Hadley and Mike headed to the water park. They were back very quickly. Hadley got down there and just wanted to sit with Mike. This should have been our first clue that something was wrong. Hadley never wants to just sit :) After being in the room for a little bit she was fast asleep on Mike.We all took a nap. When Hadley woke up she had a fever and wasn't feeling good. That is about where the fun ended. We didn't do much after that. We went to bed early. The next day it was time to head home. Of course Hadley was feeling great then. Here are a few pictures from the lobby of the hotel.

To add to the craziness we were not impressed with the hotel and service we received. I have only heard good things about this hotel so maybe we just got a junky room and the bad housekeeper who thinks nobody ever needs toilet paper or kleenex.
Hopefully our next vacation will go better.

4-month check-up

Jillian had her 4-month check-up today. She weighed 14 pounds even and was 25.5 inches long. She was in the 88th percentile for height, she doesn't get that from her mom or dad. She had to get 3 shots :( She has done well and slept most of the day.
I wanted to post a picture but blogger was messing up and wouldn't let me :(

Cuties

I just uploaded our pictures from our family vacation to Kansas City. I hope to post them soon. Here are pictures of my two favorite cuties.

This is Hadley in her boat. She can be found there for most of the day with her toy puppy. They have been on lots of adventures together. And Hadley is always wearing her "seat belt" a purple scarf. Today I heard her ordering ice cream from her boat. Must have been a float up on the river :)
Who can resist this cute binky face? I can't! She has spent most of the week trying to eat her feet and trying to roll over. She is one busy girl :)

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday Grandpa. We hope you have a great day. We love you!

Thousand Words Thursday

This is one of my favorite pictures of Hadley. My mom cropped it and turned it black and white. She framed it for Hadley and sits in her room. I think this picture captures Hadley's personality.

4 months old

Can you believe that this girl is 4 months old today?

I can't believe how fast she is growing and changing. She is still a happy little girl almost all the time. She loves to watch her sister or any action that is going on. She can roll over from her tummy to back and is real close to rolling from her back to her tummy. She loves her binky and blankie. She loves to play with her hands as she falls asleep. She found her feet last week and is trying to get them in her mouth :) She loves to be outside. She loves her swing. In the last week or two she has really grown attached to her daddy. She smiles as soon as she sees him. I think we have another daddy's girl.
We have her 4 month check-up and shots next week.

Family in town

On Thursday night, Mike's mom, sister and nephew came for a visit. Hadley was excited all day and kept asking when, "Nesi" (Thanasi) was going to get here. Thanasi is 4 and full of energy. Hadley and he had a great time together.

Here they are in Hadley's boat. At one point Thanasi had the rope around him and he was a sled dog pulling Hadley in the boat.

We went to a park on Friday and let them burn off some energy.

Then they got to go swimming.

Next it was story time with Granny.

Before bed we had a little movie time.

They also played a little golf in the backyard. Thanasi looks like a pro in the making.

Granny and Aunt Tammy watching the kiddos outside.

We had a great time while they were here. Thanks for coming to see us.

Island Park

One of the things we were able to do while we were in Kansas was go visit the new playground at Island Park. It was great. So great we went 3 times while we were there. Hadley would find something new to do each time.
Here are lots of pictures from our times there. This post is mostly for my sister so she can see the new playground.
