Alive

Yes we are alive. It feels like forever since I posted and this is going to be a boring one at that. I have been having all day sickness so nothing fun to report. I am hoping this goes away real soon. For now all my energy is going to being a mom. And I need all I can get for that. Miss Independent is in full force. She has decided she shouldn't have to sleep in her crib and can't go to sleep without mommy or daddy right by her side. She also wants no help in the dressing area. She thinks she can do it all alone. Quite cute until it is time to walk out the door.
We are headed on a little family vacation so I will have pictures to post when we get back.

Kidney Bean

A kidney bean, that is the size of baby #2 this week. I get weekly e-mails from www.babycenter.com, that tell me what parts are developing and what size the baby is. I had my first doctor's appointment yesterday. Everything looks great. My due date is May 1st. We had an ultrasound but Mike and I are probably the only ones that think the pictures are cute. It is basically a blob :) The heartbeat was a good 169 beats a minute. If only this little kidney bean would stop making me so sick!

Happy Birthday Queen Bee!

I wanted to wish my Mom a very happy birthday. I hope you have a great day Mom. We love you!

Miss Independent

Miss Independent has appeared at our house. The other day when I was trying to get Hadley dressed she wasn't having it. So, I left her throwing a fit and went to do something else. This is what I found a few minutes later.
She got lots of hugs for trying!

Go Wildcats!

Hadley is all decked out in her K-State gear for the game against Louisville tonight. She even had on purple crocs when we left the house. Our little wildcat!

Friends

Last week on of my friends, Jennifer, called for a ride. Her car had broken down. Hadley and I went and picked Jennifer and her daughter Sarah up. Jennifer got this picture of the girls in the back. They are both about to fall asleep for naps but look so cute. I had to share.

Weekend Wrap-up

What a boring title, but that is just what this post is, a wrap-up. We had a very relaxing weekend.
Friday night Mike babysat while I went to book club. It is called book club but we discuss the book for about 5 seconds and then we are on to other things. We had a potluck of comfort food. It was just what this preggo needed. I also found out one of my friends that also attends book club is pregnant and due a week before me. FUN!
Saturday it rained all day! We spent the afternoon playing, watching football, and napping. For dinner our Sunday School class met to go out. The Youth at church provided childcare. It was a nice kid free dinner.
Sunday was a day of church, Sunday School and playing outside. A great day!

Jabber-girl

Hadley is a talker! And I don't just mean talks here and there. This girl can talk for hours. She has really been on a roll as of late. Here is a video of her at lunch yesterday. She didn't even let the food in her mouth stop her. She would not eat unless the play phone was at the table with her. I think we are in for some trouble when she is a teen.

Pie

The key lime pie I made for Mike turned out very well. He said it was great. I had a little and it was good. I have not been eating much due to the all day sickness. I was not sick with Hadley but boy is this one kicking my bootie!
For Mike's birthday we had Pei Wei and pie. We then spent the evening outside playing with Hadley. It was a great night.
Here is a picture of Mike with his pie.

Happy 32nd Birthday!

Today is my wonderful husband's 32nd birthday. He has to work, so not a very special day for him. And he has the cold that I had this weekend. He did request a homemade key lime pie for his dessert. So, Hadley and I will try to make that today. I hope it is edible.

For Mike's birthday I thougth I would share a few of the things I love about him.
  • He is a wonderful father and would do anything for Hadley. He even goes in to check on her throughout the night.

  • He makes me feel safe. Before going to bed each night he checks to make sure all the doors are locked and then goes and watches over Hadley for a few minutes.

  • He is funny (most of the time). He always knows how to make me laugh.

  • He speaks my language of sarcasim fluently.

  • He can laugh at my OCD and even has a touch of it himself.

  • He helps in the kitchen and with the laundry. Now you know why I married the man.

  • He would much rather spend a night at home with Hadley and me then be out doing something.

I could go on and on.

Mike, I hope you have a wonderful birthday. I love you!

Love for books

Some of my favorite memories from childhood are of books. I can remember my mom always reading to us. I loved The Pokey Little Puppy. One of my all time favorites is Good Night Moon. At my Grandma and Grandpa's we always read the stories about Mr. Happy and Mr. Messy and so on.
My love of books continued as I grew up. When I started taking classes in Early Childhood I started to collect children's books. One birthday and Christmas all I asked for was children's books. Kind of an odd request from a college student. But it started my collection that has grown throughout the years. Now Hadley has inherited over 200 books. Since she was born I have been waiting for the day that she showed interest in them. That day has come.
She can be found all over the house with a book in hand. She likes to go in her room during the day and read. She will even sit still for a whole story. One of her favorites right now is Papa, Please Get the Moon for Me By: Erik Carle. It is also one of my favorites. I hope that her love of books continues to grow as she does.

Still Alive

We are still alive in Marshmallow Kisses land. I have been sick all weekend with a horrible cold. Mike and Hadley have had to take care of themselves. I am feeling a little better but I think Hadley is getting it now. I have tons of pictures from last week to edit and then I can post them. Hopefully sometime soon :)

Odds and Ends

We had a wonderful and fun Labor Day weekend. We were in Kansas from Friday to Monday. Mike and I were able to go to the K-State football game. We had a great time and we won 45-6. Hadley was able to have some fun with her Grandlady and Grandpa.

On Sunday we spent most of the day with Mike's family. We had fun and Hadley got some good Granny time in.

During our time home we were able to share some news with family members and now Hadley wants to share it with the blog world.
You read that right, Hadley is going to be a big sister in May 2009.

Even though the pictures don't show it, she is very excited :) Mike and I are very excited too! I am due sometime in early May. We go to the doctor the end of September and will know more then. By my calculations I am 5 weeks along. This will put an answer to why I have been able to take 3 hour naps with Hadley and still be tired. I guess it takes a lot of energy to grow a human.

I am sure I will have lots to blog about as the pregnancy progresses.
